Evolution Gun Works has been manufacturing rifle and handgun parts and accessories for several decades. George Smith fell in love with guns when he was a kid, when his father, an avid gun collector, took him out shooting for the first time. He shot a .22 LR rifle ideal for introducing a 6-year-old boy to the world of firearms - the Springfield Model 1922. Since that day, he engaged himself with guns.

When George got older, he decided to take a gunsmithing course, which he completed in five months instead of two years. After that, he found a job at a local gunsmith shop to work and learn the secrets of the craft from more experienced colleagues. Several years later, George found himself ready for his own gunsmithing business, which he started in 1991.

At first, EGW was a small shop with four manual machines, and its clients were competition shooters asking for custom work. The business was earning money, and the company moved to a bigger space to manufacture parts and accessories. The company moved to a much bigger place once more after several years and diversified into scope rings and mounts, red dot mounts, and parts and accessories for 1911 pistols and AR-15 rifles.

EGW Scope Mounts and Rings

EGW produces different Picatinny rail scope mounts and differentiates between HD and standard rails. Standard rails are made of 6061 T6 aircraft-grade aluminum, while the company’s heavy-duty rails are machined from a solid piece of 7075 T6 aluminum billet. For you, it means that HD rails are stronger and weigh less than standard designs. The company also manufactures rails made out of 4140 tool steel.

EGW bases also differ in design. Standard rails have a sight channel machined down the middle, which allows you to see iron sights. They are also the tallest of all EGW scope bases. EGW heavy-duty rails are mil-spec designs with AR-style slots that accept many ring systems, including QD rings.

EGW scope rings include both vertical and horizontal designs. The company also manufactures mid-tier Keystone rings, CNC-machined from 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum.
