American firearms culture wouldn’t have been so rich and significant if it hadn’t been for passionate inventors, gunsmiths, and designers driven by the aspiration to give fellow Americans instruments to exercise their Second Amendment rights. We have Samuel Colt, the improver and popularizer of revolvers, Benjamin Henry with his gorgeous Henry lever-actions, John Garand, the creator of the iconic Garand M1 rifle, and, of course, John Browning.
Browning Arms Company
John Moses Browning has a special place in American firearms history. He created the .45 ACP cartridge and the 1911 pistol, designed a rifle that became the 1885 Winchester, and made numerous improvements to rifles and shotguns. All in all, this man is considered the most influential arms designer ever.
When John Browning was in his early twenties, he co-founded Browning Arms Company with his younger brother. In 1978, he created his single-shot falling block action rifle, which caught the attention of Winchester and set the stage for future collaboration in shotguns and rifles. It gave a good start, but the invention of the Browning Auto 5 shotgun in the late 1890s separated the two companies. However, Browning Arms continued to work with other manufacturers like Colt, FN Herstal, Remington, and others.
Today, Browning is a huge company with a rich offering of diverse firearms, gun-related accessories, and outdoor, hunting, and fishing products. The company is best known for its shotguns. If you want an iconic one, consider the Browning A5 semi-auto shotgun available in 16 and 12 gauge. Other successful Browning shotguns include the Browning Cynergy and the Browning Citori 725 over-unders, the Browning BPS pump-action, and the Browning BT-99 trap.
The company is also known for the Browning X-Bolt, A-Bolt (discontinued), and AB3 bolt-action rifles. The main feature of the X-Bolt is an adjustable trigger pull.
At Gritr Sports, you’ll also find Browning pistols, choke tubes, gun cases, headlamps, clothing, ammunition, and other sports and outdoor products.
