The Kel-Tec SU-16E chambered in 5.56 NATO is a unique take on the modern sporting rifle with several innovative features. Internally the SU-16 uses a locking bolt design like the AR-15 combined with a reliable and clean running long stroke gas piston similar to an AK 47. The charging handle is attached to the bolt carrier and is reciprocating. The SU-16E uses readily available AR-15 compatible magazines.
