Kenetrek was founded in 2005, though the story of the company unofficially starts in 2002 when the future founder and president Jim Wunjum took a trip to hunt sheep in the mountains. The trip itself was successful, but the way up and down turned out to be full of pain and discomfort. The reason was Jim’s boots that couldn’t handle the rugged terrain and gave him blisters that took him down.

That was the defining moment when he decided to build boots that provide support and comfort during long hunting trips in harsh weather and complex terrains.

After several years, Jim and his partners incorporated Kenetrek, and for now, it has been designing and manufacturing hunting and outdoor boots for 17 years.

The company specializes in mountain boots, and the bread and butter of Kenetrek is the Mountain Extreme series.

Kenetrek Mountain Extreme

Those are the boots the company is most proud of. There are non-insulated, 400-gram, and 1000-gram options, so you can choose the right footwear accounted for geography and season. The boots use Kenetrek proprietary sole that is extremely durable and ensures good grip. Polyurethane midsole prevents boots from over-flexing and promotes stiffness. Mountain Extreme boots also feature a waterproof breathable membrane.

The boots from this series look a lot like Mountain Extreme footwear from the exterior design standpoint, but all the magic is in the details. The Mountain Guide series is developed for even more durability, stiffness, and support to hike extreme terrains.

Kenetrek Hiking Boots

If you want something lighter in weight to travel less aggressive terrains, this series is for you. These shorter boots have less stiff soles that still provide good support. Kenetrek Safari boots are great for hot weather, as they are non-waterproof for increased breathability.
