KOWA TSN-99S Prominar Spotting Scope with TE-11WZ II 30-70x Zoom Eyepiece (TSN99S-ZM-SET)

Kowa TSN-99S PROMINAR 99mm Straight Spotting Scope Kits combine the Kowa TSN-99S spotting scope body with the TE-11WZ II Zoom Eyepiece, which replaces the original TE-11WZ to add 30x-70x markings to the 25x-60x markings for the TSN-880 and -770 scope bodies. There is no other difference between the original and II eyepieces. The TSN-99S body is only 1.4" longer than the TSN-884's 12.9" body. It weighs 64.7 oz. compared to the 53.6 oz. of the 884. You would expect on the larger 99mm body to have these increases, but they are currently the lightest and shortest bodies in this class.

Kowa also modernized the look of the TSN-99S with sleeker lines on the tripod mount foot and the prism housing. The color of the exterior is the current Kowa green painted magnesium alloy. Kowa retained their dual coaxial focusing knobs in the TSN-99 models. The larger diameter knob enables quick focus adjustments while the smaller knob moves at 1/5 the speed for the fine touch of zeroing in on perfect focus.

The TSN-99 spotting scopes accept all the same accessories (except, of course, stay-on cases will be larger) as the TSN-880 models, including eyepieces, extenders, and digiscoping adapters. Current eyepieces in the 770/880 mount series will still work with the TSN-99S, but they will have increased magnification due to the longer focal length of the 99mm objective.

TE-11WZ, which is 25-60x on the 880s and 770s will be 30-70x on the 99S. Close focus will be about 3' longer at 19.7', and field of view will reduce to 105' -60' at 1000 yards (30x-70x). Kowa also introduced a new fixed power eyepiece, the TE-80XW 40x Extreme Wide Angle Eyepiece. As the name implies, this eyepiece has an apparent FOV of 80°, which converts to 111' at 1000 yards. Magnification will be 35x on TSN-880/770 bodies. It has 17mm eye relief on all scope sizes. The TE-80XW has two special lenses: one is an XD lens and the other is a field flattener lens that gives edge-to-edge sharpness when focus is achieved.
