MasterPiece Arms

In 1973, a previous owner of MPA opened a machine shop in Georgia. The shop didn’t manufacture guns until ATF prohibited open-bolt firearms that operated faster than closed-bolt ones. The MPA's previous owner got interested in redesigning open-bolt guns and came up with the legal version of the MAC-10. That was the company’s first step toward firearm manufacturing.

As of 2008, only 20% of the shop’s time was devoted to firearms, but after the shop was sold to Phillip Cashin, the company definitively shifted to gun manufacturing.

MPA is known for sports rifles tested in the most demanding shooting competitions, chassis, and MPA Defender pistols based on the MAC-11.
