There are so many choices out there, but everything else has a much lower noise reduction rating. Basically, that's if you were to just use them as ear muffs but leave the electronics turned off. Well, logic says they Should be good that way, to start with. So only then should you add mics and speakers and the best filtering software to let just the sounds you want come through. And that's what you have here with these Sordin Supreme Pro-X Slim SFA's. The hearing protection with my 9mm at the range is great, but even more impressive was when Jethro Bigger Gun parked in the next station and started firing. My hat was almost being blown off by the wind coming from his every shot, and still the Sordins did the job and saved my ears. Here's a totally different way that I know they really work: I don't get the TV channel that was playing our Houston Astros game the other day, so I had to listen on the radio. Being a good old-fashioned AM station, there was a ton of high-pitched squealing noise on the broadcast, actually louder than the voices calling the game. So I had the idea to try on my Sordins, and like magic, the squeal was gone and I could adjust the voices up or down as needed. This was with using the "Shooting" profile, which is Option Two using the on/off button. For your info, trying Option One on this test allowed a much wider frequency range to come through and the squealing noise became part of what was being amplified instead of erased. Maybe that helps explain just how powerful and versatile these headphones are. Last time I looked, the few ratings on amo-zn are only around 3, but don't be quick to believe it. Not everyone is going to like exactly the same product, but if you don't mind the cost, these just might be the perfect solution for you. I definitely like them best among everything out there.
