The waterproof Rivers West Radial Hat (8578) has a back cape that lets the water run right off and protects the neck from that cold wind, keeping your ears open and on target. In addition, for those cold hard days when your ears get cold, flip down the Lycra ear protectors to keep your ears warm, yet the Lycra does not close off your ears to all the sounds around you. When I'm hunting, I really dislike putting the hood up since I can't hear as well.
