The company is a family business started by two brothers - Mark and Chuck Larson. After they had worked for Springfield Armory for ten years, they left to found their own venture. At first, the brothers built custom 1911 pistols in partnership with Les Baer. However, the popularity of the AR-15 platform prompted them to try this direction. Larsons built several AR-15s for a third-party company and finally founded Tolerance Plus, the future Rock River Arms.
