This cartridge is loaded with a 158 grain semi-jacketed hollow point. It is designed to delay terminal expansion until it has already tunneled a fair distance into its target, thus assuring more effective energy transfer at a variety of ranges.
The bullet's tough copper jacket averts fragmentation that could have limited penetration depth, and fully encapsulates the base of the lead core so as to minimize fouling of the bore. The SJHP's nose profile is safe for lever gun magazines.
