The BROWNING X-Bolt 2 Mountain Pro Rifle is a sure-footed big game hunter that leaves nothing to chance and this well-appointed rifle makes excellent use of a wide spectrum of technologies to make it lightweight, laser accurate, and impervious to the effects of nature.
A second generation carbon fiber stock takes center stage with a new adjustable comb that offers shooters precise eye-to-scope alignment. The one piece carbon fiber construction is strong, light, and very rigid to resist flex when taking offhand shots. Even the precision bedding block is made from compressed carbon fiber for added stability without extra weight. Two-tone gray graphics are added to break up the outline and help hide you from your quarry. At the butt end you'll find our proven 1-1/4" Inflex recoil pad.
The use of carbon fiber isn't limited to the stock. This rifle sports a wrapped carbon fiber barrel from Preferred Barrels. Extensive research and testing of Preferred Barrels products has ensured their quality levels and accuracy. Each barrel begins as a blank that is precision bored and button rifled before being stress relieved. The barrels use a stronger, stiffer carbon fiber wrapping process rather than simple carbon fiber sleeve or tube construction like less expensive designs that offer the carbon fiber look without the functional benefits of the wrapping process. SPR rifles have barrels that are 4" shorter than standard lengths to keep overall rifle length in check when using a suppressor. The muzzle is threaded 5/8"-24 and is ready for use with an optional suppressor. A Recoil Hawg muzzle brake and thread protector cap are included. The action is bedded and the barrel is free floated for consistent accuracy.
Any rifle that has "mountain" in the name is required to take weight savings seriously. The stainless steel receiver has had excess material machined away and the bolt is spiral fluted. The aluminum bolt handle is fluted and has a hollow knob. A Cerakote Carbon Gray finish is applied to the for metal protection that exceeds that of bare stainless steel.
