Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Windham Weaponry was born on the premises of a closed facility. After almost 34 years of operating in the city of Windham, Maine, the Bushmaster Firearms company was to be relocated to New York in 2011. Moving equipment was the smallest of the problems, for there were workers left with nothing to look forward to. The company moved while its employees remained in Windham. That was the moment when the company’s former owner, Richard Dyke, who sold his business back in 2006, decided to step up and revive the plant. He was with the company for more than 30 years and knew all the workers who contributed to building this company. Having gathered the necessary financing in two days, Dyke reopened the plant and founded a new company that bore the name Windham Weaponry.
Since the predecessor company was specializing in semi-automatic pistol and rifle variants of AR-15 and the workers remained the same, it’s only natural for Windham Weaponry to carry on this legacy with almost 45 years of expertise up their sleeve.
