But then, in the 30s, to be specific, neoprene was invented, and it was a true revolution in the waterproof apparel industry. Manufacturers of outdoor clothing and footwear and survival equipment quickly took it on board producing waterproof duck hunting boots, fishing boots, wetsuits, waders, and other gear.

Rocky Brands was one of such companies deciding to master the craft of neoprene. Twenty years after the revolutionary invention, Alaskans still had to fight severe weather conditions with regular footwear that couldn’t ensure an adequate level of comfort and protection. So the company decided to launch the first series of Xtratuf boots designed to withstand cold water, snow, and low temperatures. The first design they built was the Xtratuf Legacy boots.
