The topic of ammo reloading is always present in the civilian shooting community. Gun geeks and sports shooters reload their ammo to get the most accurate rounds, while frequent plinkers want to cut ammo spends. During the U.S. ammo shortage, more gun owners began thinking about reloading their ammo to save time they would spend on looking for factory rounds and shells and save money because when there’s a deficiency, things get pretty costly.

Reloading of rifle and pistol ammo begins with case preparation. The brass of a spent round is larger and dirty. After you’ve cleaned the brass, you need to lube it to prevent it from getting stuck in the sizing die. To do that, you may use the Redding Case Lube kit.

The next stages are resizing the case mouth and case trimming, and Redding sizing dies and trimming lathes do a pretty good job at that.

Then you need to insert the primer. Since military rounds like 5.56 NATO and 7.62x51 NATO have their primer pockets crimped, you need to use the Redding Primer Pocket Uniformer for decrimping.

Once the brass is fully prepared for reloading, use the precision Redding Powder Measure to pour the necessary amount of propellant into the case.

Bullet insertion goes next. Before pressing the bullet into the case, you may need to run the brass through a Redding Seating Die.
