It’s impossible to talk about the history of the Warne Scope Mounts and not mention its founder, John (Jack) L. Warne. Firearm and accessory designer and a successful entrepreneur who played a hand in the creation and development of several businesses in Australia and the USA, Jack Warne is a legend of the firearm culture.
Born in 1923 and raised in a small town in a rural part of Australia, he started working at a young age. His industrious nature and desire to succeed fructified the establishment of Koch and Warne. The company manufactured tube products.
After several years, he sold the company and founded Sporting Arms Limited in 1947. Best known as Sportco, it was the only private gun maker in Australia at that time. One of Jack's most famous creations is Sportco Model 62, known to American gun enthusiasts as Winchester 320.
In 1968, Omark Industries purchased Sportco in a friendly arrangement, and Jack Warnie continued as General Manager. In 1971, he was promoted to Chief Operating Officer. Under his management, Omark Sports Equipment Division grew from zero to millions of dollars in sales. 1979 was the year when Omark got out of the rifle business, and Jack decided to help his son with a new business, Kimber of Oregon. He designed Kimber’s Model 82 and 84 rifles.
In 1985, Jack Warne retired from Omark and created Warne Manufacturing Company six years later. Rifles were his passion, and he knew them very well, but he didn’t want to get into the firearm manufacturing business because of industry-specific regulations. Instead, he decided - scope mounts.
Warne scope mounts quickly earned the reputation of high-quality accessories because they were designed based on Jack’s deep knowledge and experience in the firearm business.
Today, Warne scope rings, MSR mounts, bases, rails, bipods, and other shooting accessories are loved by many gun enthusiasts.
Warne rings include Maxima, Mountain Tech, Skyline Precision, and Vapor series. The Maxima series, containing Warne QD rings with a vertical split, is one of the most popular among rifle owners. MSR owners choose Warne rifle scope mounts for quality, durability, and precision fit. Warne Bergara Premier is considered one of the best rail models. A choice of many shooters and hunters, easy-to-attach Warne Skyline Precision bipods deliver accuracy even in an uncomfortable position.
