HK USP9 Compact V1 9mm 3.58in 13rd 3 Magazines Semi-Auto Pistol with Night Sights (81000330)

This USP Compact 9mm is everything that I had hoped it could be. It is a gun that I hate to love, but I love it nonetheless. It is the ideal size and weight for concealed carry and will be my primary carry gun going forward. The sights are excellent, the slide is easy to rack, and the grip dimensions are ideal. It looks blocky in pictures, but it is thinner that a glock or sig (I imagine the 13 round magazine capacity has something to do with this) and as such you can establish a very strong master grip. The grip texture, while noted by some to be too rough, is in my opinion perfect. There is no slippage during cycling. However, I imagine this gun is not for everyone. The double action is the heaviest I have felt in any DA/SA. It also breaks very far back making it very easy to pull shots left. This trigger requires training and a strong trigger finger. At some point, I may install the LEM system, and the reason I went with the USP vs the P2000 or P30 is that I have the option of that conversion in the USP. But for now, I will be sticking with the DA/SA action because I value that safety feature above all else in this pistol. There is zero chance of an inadvertent trigger press - zero. The paddle magazine release is small and difficult (almost painful) to actuate. I will be replacing this with the larger HK 45 release to make it a bit easier. But, on the plus side, there is no way to inadvertently release your magazine with either release. These negatives might engender some hate (as I said, I hate to love this gun). But, the USP makes no pretenses as to what it is - it is a combat weapon. It is not a race gun, and it is not designer gun. Because of (not in spite of) this, it is the perfect carry gun.
