Sporting the magnification–objective lens configuration favored by professionals all over the world, the Leupold 10x42 BX-5 Santiam HD Binocular, in Sitka Gear Optifade Sub-Alpine camouflage, delivers bright high-contrast images with true-to-life color and crisp clarity even when observing from long distances.
This binocular is outfitted with a suite of features engineered to complement each other to deliver its performance, including lead-free calcium-fluoride extra-low dispersion (ED) glass, the proprietary Xtended Twilight (XT) Lens System, plus the Twilight Max HD Light Management System. Image quality is further enhanced through the use of phase-corrected coatings on the BAK4 prisms. The XT and Twilight Max HD systems enhance the already superior light transmission of the glass with index-matched lens coatings that are specifically engineered to raise the already high transmittance across the entire visible spectrum—with special emphasis on the blue and violet wavelengths that are most prevalent in low light. A wide apparent angle of view presents an immersive observational experience to complement the impressive optical performance while helping to minimize the distracting hand shake that is common when holding high-power optics such as this.
Designed to stand up to a life lived outdoors, the exterior surfaces of the lenses are treated with Leupold's Diamondcoat2 and Guard-Ion coatings to protect them against scratches and scuffs and allow water and oil to be easily cleaned off—ensuring clear and smudge-free views in all weather conditions. The optical tubes are nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to make them waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme temperature variations. The chassis is made from polycarbonate to make it lightweight and corrosion resistant. To help further cut weight, while providing you with more area to grip, Leupold employs an open-bridge configuration. Adding even more comfort while in the field, the Santiam comes with an upgraded case and strap that offer maximum protection in the field.

Optical Performance
- Powerful 10x magnification brings distant subjects in close for detailed observation
- 42mm objective lenses improve light-gathering ability versus smaller objectives while helping to maintain a compact form factor
- Compact roof prism light path ensures a slim profile without sacrificing performance
- Extra-low dispersion high-definition (HD) lead-free broad-band high-transmittance calcium-fluoride glass lens elements produce bright and clear images with accurate color rendition and improved contrast, without fringing
- Phase-correcting prism coatings eliminate internal interference to improve resolution and contrast
- Twilight Max HD Light Management System improves color, clarity, and contrast using index-matched multi-coatings that complement the optical glass to ensure maximum light transmission across the entire visual spectrum and enhance low-light vision and contrast; eliminates glare to further improve contrast
- Wide 65° apparent angle of view helps to minimize the appearance of the distracting hand shake that is common when looking through high-power optics
- Generous 341' field of view at 1000 yards
- Open-bridge/dual-hinge configuration
- Large, knurled center focusing wheel is easy to manipulate in cold or wet conditions or when wearing gloves
- Locking right-eye dioptric adjustment on focus wheel
- Twist-up click-stop rubber eyecups for comfortable use with or without eyewear
- Tripod mountable with optional adapter to reduce arm fatigue and eliminate distracting vibrations
- Comfortable 16.6mm eye relief reduces eyestrain for easier viewing, especially during long glassing sessions
- 4.2mm exit pupil will cover most pupils as they open and dilate in low light to keep the entire scene in view at all times
- Bridge design offers a more secure grip without sacrificing strength
- Lightweight, durable, and corrosion-resistant polycarbonate chassis
- Polycarbonate is temperature resistant and resistant to thermal expansion and contraction
- Nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme changes in temperature and environmental conditions
- Protective Sitka Gear Optifade Sub-Alpine camouflage slip-resistant rubber armoring with textured palm pads
- Durable and scratch-resistant Diamondcoat 2 coatings protect lens surfaces from scuffs that can interfere with views
- Guard-Ion coating sheds rain and water and makes dirt and fingerprints easier to clean off to ensure clear, smudge-free viewing
- Includes GO Afield deluxe binocular strap and case for maximum protection in the field
- Tethered objective lens caps and ocular rainguard offer maximum lens protection without the risk of losing them during use
