VORTEX Strike Eagle 1-8x24mm Illuminated AR-BDC Riflescope (SE-1824-1)

I put this on my ar15 and shoot it at distances of 50-300 yards and this scope works very well for that. Its not a precision scope by any means, but will keep you on target.

The Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8 is a decent all around optic, but doesn't really excel at any one task. The inherit eyebox of a scope is not as fast as a red dot. At close ranges, there is a slight magnification which gets closer to true 1x power once you're looking out to 100 yards or more. The eyebox at 8x is pretty punishing, leaving you very little room outside of its sweet spot. At distance, this scope suffers from a good amount of parallax error. Getting super tight groups with this scope can be challenging if you aren't familiar with parallax error and how to account for it. That being said, it does everything good enough. I can shoot very quickly at 5 yards, and hit torso sized steel targets with boring regularity at 300 yards thanks to the BDC reticle. If you're looking for a jack of all trades optic, this is a good choice. If you want to specialize in short or long range, I would look elsewhere.

I purchased this scope a few months ago and strapped it on my black rifle. Sight Picture has been amazing and allows for quick adjustment for short or long range shots. Only issue is remembering to turn it off once finished, otherwise the batteries are dead for the next trip to the range!
