The Czech Republic is a birthplace of many companies that decided to connect their life with firearms and did so quite successfully. Sellier & Bellot is a firearms ammunition manufacturer that has been operating since 1825 and thus has almost two-centuries-worth of experience behind their back. One could say that Sellier & Bellot is a true melting pot of cultures that has managed to leave its mark in several countries before settling in the Czech Republic. The company was originally founded by a German businessman of French origin Louis Sellier in Prague. At the request of the Emperor of Austria, the company manufactured percussion caps for infantry firearms. After Jean Bellot joined the race, the brand quickly established itself both in European and overseas markets. By the end of the 19th century, Sellier and Bellot decided to include hunting cartridges into their production program. In 1936, the company moved to Vlašim, the current Czech Republic, where it resides to this day.
